On the weekends surrounding the composer’s 100th birthday, The Esoterics is proud to present this concert series of Samuel Barber’s entire choral oeuvre. With repertoire ranging over four decades, from his early part-songs setting American poetry, to his rarely-heard Motetto (written at age 20!), and the sublime choral rendering of his Adagio for strings (entitled Agnus Dei), Barber’s choral music is timelessly profound and offers something for everyone. Adding yet another strand of depth and appreciation, members of The Esoterics will read anecdotes and excerpts of letters from the composer’s biography between the pieces in this concert.
Please join The Esoterics to celebrate the life and work of this master choral composer.
